A new step in supporting talent in the port and logistics sector

Escola Europea – Intermodal Transport has officially incorporated MSC Spain as a new sponsor of the Forma’t al Port programme, following the signing of an agreement held on March 9 at the Escola’s offices in Barcelona.

This partnership reinforces collaboration between the business sector and the educational sphere, with a shared objective: to support young talent within the port and logistics ecosystem.

"This partnership reinforces collaboration between the business sector and the educational sphere, with the shared goal of supporting young talent."

A well-established initiative in the local port ecosystem

Forma’t al Port is a training initiative that connects educational centres with the port and logistics environment through a practical and collaborative methodology.

In 2025, ten years after its launch, the initiative brought together 636 students from 15 educational centres, consolidating its position as one of the benchmark programmes in applied training for the local port sector.

Two complementary phases within the same training pathway

The initiative is structured in two complementary phases:

Forma’t al Port Introduction, aimed at first-year students, focuses on the fundamentals of the port environment and the interrelation between all its stakeholders.

Forma’t al Port – Talent, carried out afterwards with the same students in their second year, goes deeper into the configuration and development of high-performance teams in transport management, strengthening not only technical knowledge but also transversal skills and behavioural performance.

This model allows the programme to accompany students throughout their training process within the same calendar year, reinforcing the link between academic knowledge, business reality, and academic and professional orientation.

Context · Forma’t al Port

The programme currently has the support of 35 sponsors, including public administrations, logistics-port associations, and private companies from across the sector. It also works with 10 collaborating entities, mainly terminals in the Port of Barcelona, which help make the training activities possible and bring students closer to real operations.

"With MSC’s incorporation, Forma’t al Port continues to expand its network of companies committed to education, employability, and the modernisation of the port sector."

A public-private commitment to the future of the sector

With this addition, MSC joins a well-established ecosystem of companies and institutions committed to education and talent development in the logistics-port sector.

The programme currently counts on 35 sponsors, including public administrations, associations from the logistics-port sector, and private companies of different kinds: shipping lines, shipping agents, freight forwarders, transport operators, consolidators, and depots, among others.

In addition, the programme works with 10 collaborating entities, mainly terminals in the Port of Barcelona, which actively contribute to the delivery of the training activities and help students discover the reality of port operations.

Strengthening the connection between education and industry

With this new incorporation, Forma’t al Port continues to expand its network of companies committed to training and the modernisation of the Spanish port system, reinforcing youth employability and the direct connection between education and business.

The collaboration with MSC will help further promote initiatives focused on talent, innovation, and operational excellence in the logistics and maritime environment.
